    Whether you call them kid cards, kid IDs, youth IDs or something else, it’s a good idea to have one. I can’t think of many things that would be more traumatic than to come to the realization that your child is missing. When it comes down to it, if your child is missing or abducted, would you have the clarity of thought to be able to provide all the information necessary to assist law enforcement in the search for your child.

    According to NISMART-2 research, which studied the year 1999, an estimated 797,500 children were reported missing; 58,200 children were abducted by non family members; 115 children were the victims of the most serious, long-term non family abductions called "stereotypical kidnappings"; and 203,900 children were the victims of family abductions.

    The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (missingkids.com) emphasizes the importance of having a current photograph of your child and recommends taking a new photograph every 6 months.

    At VR ID Cards we have come up with what we call the Youth Emergency Set of Identification Documents (YES ID). This set consists of one photo ID card printed on a 30 mil pvc plastic card (the same size and thickness as the cards used to produce credit cards) and a second copy on 4" x 6" premium quality glossy photo paper.

    The plastic ID card includes a photo, your child’s name and information like date of birth, height, weight, hair color and eye color. The front of the card also includes the date the card was printed and a space at the bottom for sponsor information. The back of the ID card includes spaces for medical concerns, distinguishing marks and thumb prints. The medical concerns area can include information about allergies or other medical conditions or medications that may be of concern if a child is abducted or missing. The distinguishing marks area can include information like scars or birth marks, pierced ears or eye glasses. This information, along with the statistics on the front of the card, may be helpful in the quick and accurate identification of your child in the event of an emergency. The back of the card also includes high resolution scans of both of your child’s thumb prints.

    The plastic ID card is sturdy, durable and perfect for carrying in your purse or wallet where it can be quickly found in case of an emergency.

    The 4" x 6" print includes all the information printed on both sides of the ID card, plus parent or guardian contact information, in a larger format.

    The 4" x 6" print should be kept in a safe place where it can be found quickly. With its larger photograph, it can be used to scan, copy or fax if it becomes necessary to broadcast an image or if information is needed in another law enforcement jurisdiction.

    VR ID Cards does not maintain any records on children. Once cards are produced all information is deleted.
